Mango Thokku (Maangaai Thokku | Manga Thokku)
Ingredients
Raw Mango (Kilimookku/Bangalore Maanga) - 2
Gingely oil - 75 ml
Mustard (Kadugu) - 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida (Perungaayam) - 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilly powder (Fresh powder) - 2 tablespoon
Salt - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Preparation
- Grate the raw mango
- Heat 50 ml of gingely oil in a dry pan, in medium flame
- Add mustard, asafoetida
- Allow mustard to burst
- Reduce to low flame
- Add the grated mango and stir continuously for 7 to 10 minutes
- At this stage, the moisture content of mango will go away. Else, continue stirring for 3 more minutes
- Add turmeric powder and salt
- Stir thoroughly
- Add red chilly powder
- Stir for 2 minutes
- Add more oil if needed
- Turn off the stove
Is not vendayam needed
