Mango Thokku (Maangaai Thokku | Manga Thokku)

Ingredients


Raw Mango (Kilimookku/Bangalore Maanga) - 2
Gingely oil - 75 ml
Mustard (Kadugu) - 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida (Perungaayam) - 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilly powder (Fresh powder) - 2 tablespoon
Salt - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon


Preparation


  1. Grate the raw mango
  2. Heat 50 ml of gingely oil in a dry pan, in medium flame
  3. Add mustard, asafoetida
  4. Allow mustard to burst
  5. Reduce to low flame
  6. Add the grated mango and stir continuously for 7 to 10 minutes
  7. At this stage, the moisture content of mango will go away. Else, continue stirring for 3 more minutes
  8. Add turmeric powder and salt
  9. Stir thoroughly
  10. Add red chilly powder
  11. Stir for 2 minutes
  12. Add more oil if needed
  13. Turn off the stove
